Overview
The secretary is a key pillar of any club. They take meeting minutes and keep track of every members’ attendance. This allows for members to gain awards and recognition for all their hard work at the end of the service year. Here are some resources the secretary can and may like to use.
Duties
  • Support your board by taking detailed notes at every board meeting
  • Take the attendance of all your members (dues paying and not dues paying) for every event
  • Maintain an active record of how many service hours, social hours, etc each member has (this can be done with the spreadsheet below!)
  • Maintain a relationship with your District Secretary
  • Help propose ideas for the club
  • Be a present board member at every event such that members can look up to you and feel supported by you
  • Etc

Any event where you are doing something for the community. This includes an eboard meeting!
You take the number of people who attended the event and multiply it by the duration of the service event
Unless you are also fundraising for an organization at your table, for example, it is not.
In circle K if your members do community service on the side, we consider that service towards your club. Therefore, service events held together as a club are considered club service while those that do not hold it as a club are considered personal service.
Key Terms & Definitions
Any event where there are 2 members from a different club in the Kiwanis family. These branches are Action Club, Builder’s Club, Key club, and Kiwanis.
Club events held with 2 members from another Circle K club.
This is a specific service initiative backed by the governor themself every year.
This is a service initiative backed by the entire district board every year.
District Events are events on a district level, this includes but is not limited to the K-Family Picnic, New York Speaking, and the District Convention.
International Events are events on an international level, this includes but is not limited to the the International Convention or ICON.
